Junior Systems Administrator - Burr Ridge, IL

Maintain the corporate network and server infrastructure and provide Tier II/III help desk support for 200 local and remote employees. Perform activities such as monitoring performance, troubleshooting complex laptop, server, and network issues, installing server software and upgrades, maintaining server backups and data recovery, supporting corporate IT projects, and creating IT documentation as needed.

Responsibilities:

  •  Approach customer service from a positive, helpful, and caring perspective.
  •  Evaluate, recommend, and install new hardware, software releases and system upgrades 
  •  Monitor the performance of existing IT systems and troubleshoot issues
  •  Monitor the performance of the corporate network and troubleshoot issues
  •  Manage activities for data backup and recovery 
  •  Provide Tier II/III help desk support for 200 local and remote employees to troubleshoot complex laptop software and hardware issues
  •  Provide technical training and guidance to users
  •  Create IT process documentation and keep up to date
  •  Implement IT projects, as directed.
  •  Assist the IT systems and security admin with information security tasks and projects
  •  Promote professionalism and teamwork
  •  Champion open, honest, and effective communication.

Work Conditions

  • Emergency support may require extended and/or evening/weekend work
  • Moderate physical labor to move and install workstations and other hardware

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures of system administration including but not limited to: Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, Office 365 administration, and VMware.
  • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures of network administration including but not limited to: Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Wireless Networking, Virtual Private Network (VPN), Switching, and Routing
  • Strong interpersonal and team work skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven computer usage skills and aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and organize workload.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose issues, research, and apply fixes.               
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • High work ethic, integrity, and professional conduct.

Required Experience and Education/Training:

  •  Bachelorís degree in computer science or related field.
  •  One to three years of experience in a small to medium sized business.
